Seminars

General information

The group's seminar session is a friendly space where we encourage members, students, and professors, to show the progress they have been able to make during their research. All with the aim of sharing promoting an atmosphere of collaboration between the members of the group. The time spacetime-time coordinates of the seminars as well as the schedule for the present semester are below.

Tittle: Construction of initial data sets for spacetimes with spatial topology S1XS2

Speaker: Leon Escobar-Diaz

Abstract

In this talk, we present a numerical approach for constructing initial data sets of inhomogeneous cosmological spacetimes with a spatial topology of S1XS2. The method is composed of two main parts. Firmeet.google.com/nfh-bbqk-apbstly, we use a 2+1 decomposition of the so-called constraint equations, which are a set of tensorial equations that determine the initial data in general relativity, to turn them into a certain hyperbolic system. Secondly, due to the spatial topology, the numerical part is carried out by the implementation of a pseudo-spectral method based on the so-called spin-weighted spherical harmonics. We discuss the suitability and accuracy of our numerical infrastructure against some exact initial data sets.
